While Mayor Bloomberg's ban on sodas larger than 16 ounces in New York City for their negative health effects has been approved, Japan is introducing a big gulp soda that helps block fat.
'Pepsi Special' is being released across the country on November 13th by Japanese Pepsi distributor Suntory. Kotaku reports that the new drink has been designated a "food for specified health uses" so it is regulated by the Japanese government and has its seal of approval. Pepsi Special contains the fiber molecule dextrin, which helps prevent the body from absorbing fat, and it is priced at ¥150 ($1.87).
